為了解決Gambling disorder DS的問題,作者Ascher, Michael S., M.D. (EDT)/ Levounis, Petros, M.D. (EDT) 這樣論述:

The Behavioral Addictions is the first American Psychiatric Publishing title to explore the diagnosis and treatment of patients who suffer from behavioral addictions, extreme forms of which share specific characteristics with severe forms of substance use disorders. These characteristics include tol

erance (the need to use the substance or perform the troublesome behavior at higher doses, or more and more frequently, in order to achieve the same effect); withdrawal (feelings of restlessness, irritability, and discontent following abrupt discontinuation of the substance or the behavior); obsessi

ve thinking and planning that block out anything other than obtaining or engaging in the addictive agent or behavior; and accompanying external consequences in related to finances, health, interpersonal relationships, legal affairs, etc. Although not all behavioral addictions are currently recognize

d as such by DSM-5, both substances and behaviors can hijack a person's pleasure-and-reward brain circuitry, causing great suffering. This case-based volume is practical and engaging and offers many features that make it not only informative but also accessible and entertaining: - Behaviors covered,

both those widely recognized and those less commonly accepted, involve exercise, food, gambling, Internet gaming, Internet surfing, kleptomania, love, sex, shopping, work, tanning, and e-mailing/texting.- Introductory chapters discuss the relationship of behavioral or process addictions to substance

use disorders across many spheres, and they provide an overview of the behavioral addictions from neurobiological, theoretical, clinical, and forensic perspectives.- Gambling disorder is now classified in DSM-5 as a behavioral addiction, lending credence to the construct of behavioral addictions an

d providing precedent for future consideration of other behavioral addictions, such as those highlighted in the volume. - Each chapter focuses on a real-life case study of a patient with a behavioral addiction. Videos that accompany the volume demonstrate encounters between a clinician and a patient

exhibiting an addiction. This puts material on assessment, treatment, etc. into a real-world context.- Key points for review and multiple-choice questions are included at the end of each chapter. Not simply an exaggeration of everyday social and personal ailments, these behavioral conditions presen

t clinicians with unique and poorly researched challenges in everyday clinical practice. The Behavioral Addictions helps the reader to determine not only where to draw the line between healthy and unhealthy levels of participation in a behavior, but also how to intervene in ways that are therapeutic

, effective, and evidence-based. Michael S. Ascher, M.D., is a Clinical Associate in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Petros Levounis, M.D., M.A., is Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School a

Anxiety and Substance Use Disorders: The Vicious Cycle of Comorbidity

為了解決Gambling disorder DS的問題,作者Stewart, Sherry H., Ph.D./ Conrod, Patricia 這樣論述:

"It takes my worries away...it helps me unwind when I'm tense..."Those with an anxiety disorder are at two to five times greater risk of having an alcohol or drug use disorder than those without an anxiety disorder. And although anxiety disorders are among the most common co-occurring conditions aff

ecting people with substance issues, mainstream methods often fail to treat both halves of the picture.Anxiety and Substance Use Disorders: The Vicious Cycle of Comorbidity addresses this gap with dispatches from the frontlines of research and treatment. Thirty-four international experts offer findi

ngs, theories, and intervention strategies for this common form of dual disorder both across types of substances (alcohol, tobacco, street and prescription drugs) and the range of anxiety disorders (PTSD, social phobia, panic disorder, OCD) to give the reader comprehensive knowledge in a practical f

ormat. Informed by the reciprocal relationship between the two types of disorders (such as the contributions of substance abuse to anxiety-related symptoms), the book: Brings together neurobiological, psychosocial, and cognitive perspectives on its subject; Outlines theoretical models of co-occurrin

g anxiety and substance abuse, its epidemiology, and etiology; Offers up-to-date research findings on the nature, origins, and treatment of specific combinations of substance use and anxiety disorders; Presents detailed reviews of emerging targeted treatment methods--including cognitive-behavioral,

personality-based, and medical interventions--with latest data on their efficacy; Pinpoints future directions in understanding and treating the dually diagnosed. This integrative approach makes Anxiety and Substance Use Disorders: The Vicious Cycle of Comorbidity an important resource for all mental

health professionals. It will also serve as an excellent clinical text. "The first of its kind in providing a critical review of the emerging literature addressing such co-morbid conditions, this book is an excellent step in providing researchers and clinicians with guidance in the understanding and

treatment of this complicated presentation. Overall, the current volume will likely be instrumental in further advancing the field of co-occurring anxiety and substance use disorders." -Lindsay S. Ham, Florida International University, Book Review Editor for Anxiety Disorders: A Quarterly Report, A

ssociation for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Sherry H. Stewart, Ph.D., is a professor of psychology at Dalhousie University and is an Associate Editor of the Cognitive Behavior Therapy journal. Since receiving her doctorate from McGill University in 1993, she has published many articles and t

aken part in numerous scientific presentations on the subjects of anxiety and addictive behaviors (particularly alcoholism and gambling). She is currently conducting research on the co-morbidity of gambling and alcohol use disorders, funded by a grant from the Nova Scotia Gaming Foundation. Patricia

J. Conrod, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and Clinical Lecturer at the National Addiction Centre, Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. She was previously Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her research focu

ses on cognitive, personality and biological risk factors for alcohol and drug misuse and the factors that mediate the co-occurrence of addictive behaviors with other mental disorders. Her experimental research focuses on factors that make people more susceptible to seek out behavioral reinforcement

from drugs of abuse. She has published several studies demonstrating that personality factors determine the type of reinforcement experienced from substances of abuse. More recently, her research findings have led to the development of new approaches to substance abuse treatment and prevention that

target personality risk factors for substance misuse.
