Brains, Media and Politics: Generating Neoliberal Subjects

為了解決How to pronounce duk的問題,作者Leyva, Rodolfo 這樣論述:

Following the 2007-2008 global financial crisis, a number of prominent academics, journalists, and activists were quick to pronounce the demise of neoliberal capitalism and governance. This rather optimistic prediction, however, underestimated the extent to which neoliberalism has shaped the 21st-ce

ntury world order and become entrenched in our sociopolitical and cognitive fabric. Indeed, 11 years after the crisis, and in spite of the significant levels of socioeconomic inequality, psychological distress, and environmental destruction generated by neoliberal policies and corresponding business

and cultural practices, the ideological hegemony of neoliberalism has not been supplanted, nor has it really faced any serious unsettling. How, then, has neoliberalism inflected and shaped our "common-sense" understandings of what is politically, economically, and culturally viable? To help answer

this question, this book combines leading theories from sociology, media-communication research, developmental psychology, and cognitive science, and draws on primary evidence from a unique mix of ethnographic, survey, and experimental studies - of young people's leisure practices and educational ex

periences, of young adults' political socialisation processes in relation to exposure to social networking sites, and of the effects of commercial media viewing on material values and support for social welfare. In doing so, it provides a nuanced and robustly empirically tested account of how the co

nscious and non-conscious cognitive dimensions of people's subjectivities and everyday social practices become interpellated through and reproductive of neoliberal ideology. As such, this book will appeal to scholars across the social and behavioural sciences with interests in neoliberalism, politic

al engagement, enculturation, social reproduction, and media effects. Rodolfo Leyva is a fellow in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK.

’’Alphabet’’ Twenty-Two Steps to Enlightenment: - Inner Journey through the Sacred Phoenician Alphabet revealing the ’’Story of

為了解決How to pronounce duk的問題,作者Brydon, Christine 這樣論述:

The Sacred Phoenician Alphabet is the foundation stone upon which many Legends and Stories have been based, including the 'Story of Creation' in Genesis, the 'Mystical Kabbalah', and the 'True Art of Astrology'. And while it is highly probable that most people have some knowledge of these Ancient Tr

aditions, the majority of Humanity have no understanding of how they originated, or of the message they convey to us, concerning our 'Perception of Reality'. This is because since their original conception, the context of these stories has been altered to reflect the philosophies and lifestyle of su

ccessive generations, until the Spiritual Wisdom which they exemplify is now often misunderstood, and even feared by many. The original Symbols of the Sacred Phoenician Alphabet are alleged to have been devised by a tribe of Canaanites around 2000 B.C., who later became known as the Phoenicians. And

the Symbols are a simplistic representation of the Phoenician perspective of our 'Journey through Life', and tell the story of the Beneficent, Androgynous, Mother God-dess of Pure Magical Light, and the 'Miraculous Process of Self-Creation' which takes place within us when we pronounce the resonant

sounds of the Spoken Word. The Sacred Phoenician Symbols were later adapted into Letters to record the Hebrew 'Story of Creation', 'Kabbalah' and 'Astrology' in written form; possibly first in the 'Sefer Yetzirah', (Book of Creation), and later in the Bible, to show us the 'Way to our Salvation'. H

owever, the Phoenicians maintained that we do not need 'saving', only to change our present Life Story. The Tarot is also mentioned in the Manual, since although not directly related to the Sacred Phoenician Alphabet, it too tells the Story of our Journey through Life to our Divine Destination. Ch

ristine Brydon has a BSc. Hons. in Health and Human Sciences, and M.A. Degree from the University of Durham, UK, based on the Anthropology of Counselling Practices, and the Performance of Healing Ceremonies around the world. Christine is a keen student of Holistic Healing Techniques, Religion, Kabba

lah, Astrology, and the Mystical Arts; which she has studied and taught for over fifty years, both in the UK and Internationally. Christine was a Tutor at the University of Durham, a Professional Astrological Councillor, and Holistic Therapist until her retirement over ten years ago. And since then

she has devoted her time to researching the origins of the Sacred Phoenician Alphabet, and its connection to Healing, the Stories of Creation, Kabbalah, Astrology and Tarot. And in this second Manual, based on the Sacred Phoenician Alphabet, Christine brings together all aspects of her lifelong stud

ies and career, so that we might See our own ’Truth’ more clearly. And to encourage fellow seekers on the Journey to our Divine Destination to follow the direction which is already inherent within us; for our own ’Truth’ can only be found within the Silence of our Heart.
